Red Hottest Hockey Players is a Big Hit in Big Apple

Madison Square Garden, the Big Apple’s main venue, is fully booked on Saturday, November 28. This might not seem like a big deal if the Knicks and Rangers were playing. But Red Hot Hockey — Boston University against Cornell is the weekend’s hot ticket.

Terrier fans without tickets have some consolation. The game will be streamed live on the Athletics Department’s Web site.

With a 7-2 win by the Terriers in January 1925, the seeds of the BU/Cornell rivalry were sown. The two teams met in the NCAA title game in 1972, more than 40 years later. Cornell won 1967 and BU won 1972. The teams only met a handful of times after BU joined Hockey East in 1984. This was before the 2007 Red Hot Hockey match at Garden.
