TOUR SOFT AND TITLEIST VELOCITY GOLF BALLS

GlennHassler

We believe that nearly all golfers should have access to tour-level golf balls. This is the only part of titleist velocity golf balls where it makes sense to play what the pros do.

What does this mean? This refers to balls that have three or more layers of urethane (or some other substance) coverings and prices above $40, except for direct-to-consumer brands such as Snell Golf. This is your base.

However, that doesn’t mean companies aren’t trying to sell you other ideas. It all boils down to telling customers what they want and creating elaborate stories that sometimes gloss over the shortcomings of products that aren’t performing to your satisfaction.

THE COMPANY LINE

Titleist Velocity golf balls believe that every golfer should have a top-quality ball. Titleist is known for making the best golf balls. Titleist allows for some spec variations, which could put you in a niche that Titleist does not service. The one plus is that Titleist believes that serious golfers should be playing Pro V1 or Pro V1x.

  • Rice is almost always an important consideration.
  • Many golfers prefer soft feel, but they don’t realize how much it could cost them.
  • Some golfers prefer color options or lines and patterns on their titleist velocity golf balls.
  • Golfers believe what they believe, and it’s often impossible to convince them otherwise.

Titleist Velocity Golf Balls Tour Soft

Titleist Velocity golf balls cleverly placed its first Tour Soft iteration to compete against Callaway’s Chrome Soft. It seemed absurd neil grimmer to draw comparisons between two-piece ionomer balls and Callaway’s flagship Urethane product at the time. It was probably reasonable, given what we now know.

Titleist velocity golf balls first foray into “not-quite a tour-ball” category is Tour Soft. It takes brand messaging out of this equation. It is found on shelves alongside QStar Tour and ERC Soft products, as well as TaylorMade’s Project A (urethane) and Bridgestone’s E12. While there are many things that golfers love about the products, none of them performs at the same level as the Tour-level. This is a reason they are less expensive.

VELOCITY

It’s tempting, given the launch date, to label titleist velocity golf balls the opposite of Tour Soft. But TrueFeel may be a better comparison. The Velocity story by Titleist is almost all about feel, while the late-September release from the company is almost exclusively about speed off of the tee.

Your Name should Reflect this

Titleist claims Velocity was designed to do one thing: go really far off the green. While it might be your friend’s favorite scrambleball, it will mean you have to give up green-side performance. It’s not going spin around the green, that’s what it says.
